Monica's New Album *UPDATE*
Currently gaining airplay, Monica's new single "Still Standing" featuring Ludacris has built anticipation for the project which was originally due for release this fall. Referencing a recent studio session with Ne Yo, who worked with her on several songs last month, Monica says "He knows how to take a love song, whether it's happy love or hurt in love and make it right."
Focusing more on ballads for this effort, which many would argue is Monica's strongest area, the singer says "I will not neglect the ballad area, ballads are what I love to do."
In addition to hitting the studio with Ne Yo/Stargate, Monica looks forward to linking up with Missy Elliott this month with whom she worked with on the hit album "After The Storm" in 2002.
Although a release date has not been confirmed at this point, "Still Standing" -- the album, is expected to be released early 2009

The Real Housewives of Atlanta 2
But let me break this down in terms that all of us Housewives lovers can easily understand: You will only have three Housewives-less weeks to endure in July, seeing as how the "lost footage" from the New Jersey series airs Thursday, July 9. Hopefully, you'll be on vacation during some of this time, and you won't even notice.
After the jump, a quick update on what's going on with the Atlanta ladies, according to Bravo.
addCredit("Quantrell Colbert/Bravo")
Kim: When we meet back up with the ladies, Kim will have broken up with the mysterious "Big Poppa," yet she'll still be reeling from it all. (Translation: It ain't over!) And, of course, she'll still be trying to turn her busted voice into a successful music career, with the help of the new gal, which brings us to...
Kandi: A friend of Lisa, the newbie jumps right into the nest of ladies. The recently engaged Kandi, who is a former member of the '90s R&B girl group Xscape, sets her sights on launching her solo career with a new album and by helping Kim.
Lisa: She's still doing real estate, but with that slowing because of the economy, Lisa decides to launch a clothing line called Closet Freak. Mmhmm. Lisa also contemplates having another baby -- but her husband's NFL career might deter things.
NeNe: The fan-favorite is still busy doing the charity thing while also looking for her biological father. Looks like her sassy mouth is going to get her into more trouble, too! (Translation: Hell yeah!) Oh yah, and the fan favorite's fan-favorite friend Dwight Eubanks will be back.
Sheree: In the best move ever, Sheree throws a divorce party to celebrate the end of her nuptials. To keep the celebration going, she throws herself into her clothing line, She by Sheree, and its runway debut. And, of course, the release doesn't detail who's fighting with who this season, but we can generally assume that everyone will be fighting with everyone. Or at least hope for that. The release says funny things like that NeNe will "explore her ever-evolving friendships with the other housewives, with some dramatic results," and that with Lisa "old rumors resurface." Translations: catfights. Lots of them! More pics.

Monica "Still Standing"
I'm really looking forward to Monica's comeback and the Reality Show. What do we really know about her!? The duet with Keyshia was a good move for "Miss Thang"! Her last album "Makings of me" wasn't bad @ all, but I just refused to buy a Cd with only 10 songs on it for $16.00!(in wal*Mart) I heart you Monica. I know you got kids, but a brotha gotta eat too. Hopefully you have good promotion this time around!!
Album of the week!!
Support Real music ****1/2
When it comes to urban gospel superstars Mary Mary, everything is done on a big scale. All of their pursuits-musical, spiritual, or otherwise-are larger-than-life: not a single thing is left to chance. For them, there's simply no room for halfway, half-done, half-baked efforts. No matter the venture, the bar is always sky-high. Absolutely everything must be handled with an utmost sense of excellence.
This commitment to greatness isn't novel for them. As far back as their breakout, career-defining first single, "Shackles (Praise You)" in 2000, Mary Mary have time and again gone for broke. Their landmark fifth album for Columbia Records, THE SOUND, is no different. Hands down, the project is their boldest, most complete work yet-a remarkable milestone in their now decade-long trajectory in music.
"We represent a great, big God who is excellent, so we like to think that our work represents that, too," says Tina Campbell, one-half of the best-selling duo. "God's blessings are new every day. He's blowing our minds every day. We should be able to speak to a new day in a new way." Her sister Erica Campbell can't help but concur: "I wholeheartedly agree," she says.
With nothing to prove, Mary Mary could very well rest on past successes and settle for the middle-of-the-road. After all, they are Grammy, Dove, Stellar, MOBO, and American Music Award winners, and all of their studio albums-2000's Thankful, 2002's Incredible, and 2005's Mary Mary-are either platinum- or gold-certified. But independent of older glories, THE SOUND proves they go it all out, all the time.
"We consider ourselves to be unpredictable," Tina says. "We like to think that we're innovative and original so you cannot figure out what our next move is and you can't really define our ability or what you think the expectations are."
That's putting it mildly. From top to bottom, THE SOUND sees the tandem stretching their wings into realms rarely explored in music, for a celebration of sound that nearly defies categorization. Assisted by longtime producer Warryn Campbell, the disc melds the twosome's love of truth-grounded gospel music, yet swathed in a colorful patchwork of R and B, pop, soul, jazz, electronic music, and then some.
There's no better preamble for THE SOUND's genre-bending dynamics than lead single "Get Up," a song unlike anything on the airwaves in 2008, mainstream or gospel. "That song embodies what the whole album is about," Erica says. "It asks people, 'Why are you waiting? Why do you care what other people think?' It reminds us that your beginning can be whenever you want it to be."
Following ethereal, hypnotic verses with soft, near-whispered vocals, "Get Up" explodes into a praise party dominated by horns, beats-per-minute, and an empowering lyric: "Get up, 'cause you can't stop / Get up, gotta lot to do ... What are you afraid of? Don't you know what you're made of?" By the time the song hits the rhythmic vamp, Mary Mary have already shattered all preconceived notions about their craft. (IMO) This is one of the best albums to come out this year! These women can make a gospel song sound like it should be played in the club ! My fav songs from the album is "God in me","The Sound", "Get up", and "Superfriend". Kudos to these women for taking gospel music to the next level!..."The Sound".
New Whitney Album
He says:
“People are expecting something fantastic and I think they are going to get it. Whitney doesn’t want any sad songs on this record. She isn’t going for tear jerkers. She’s happy raising her children and wants her music to reflect that. It’s already sounding great.” Kudos to Ne-Yo and Whitney. Here are some recent pics of Whitney and her Daughter @ an airport!

Best R&B Album (IMO!! )
Who in da Hell left the GATE open....!!???
Ain't this some shhh-According to a rep for the cable channel, the new reality series, premiering Aug. 25 at 10 p.m., chronicles the two as they strive to gain financial independence, while taking on the responsibilities of implementing and maintaining positive lifestyle changes, raising families and handling the drama and men in their lives.
Both Atlanta-based (by way of Oakland) women have had their fair share of drama play out for the public to see. Frankie (legally known as Frankie Lons) has served time in jail and has battled substance abuse. She likes younger men and she loves to party! Neffe (legally known as Nefferteria Pugh), on the other hand, is a baby machine. She is reportedly the mother of six children and is expecting another one from an aspiring rapper named So-Low.
Living with, around and off Cole is one of the most emotionally charged themes of 'The Way It Is'
Breaking away from the 'Heaven Sent' singer will surely prove to be more difficult than expected for her birth mother and sister, and their emotions are sure to hit a fevered pitch.
Eight episodes of the series, are set to run. I can't wait to drink a chek soda and eat some funyuns during this show! Good move Bet. Makes me proud to use my EBT.(Smdh) How can i forget about Frankie!? Thats my girl right there! Hollaaaaaa!!!
